Magnetic Stripe scanners are an economical means of verifying the age of your patrons. One quick swipe of a driver license and you can find out the age of the card holder. The single drawback to this type of scanner is it is only usable in a few states. And if your patrons are coming from other states that have barcodes on their drivers license then you will not be able to check them. And it appears that the few remaining magnetic stripe states are making plans to join the rest of the nation with both barcode and magnetic stripes on their drivers licenses. Its not anything that is going to happen overnight, but it is something to consider when purchasing a scanner.
